Leucoderma Ayurvedic Treatment

The major goal of the leucoderma treatment in ayurveda includes the modification of the body’s metabolism done by the improvement of the overall immunity of the individual. Most of the natural ayurvedic Leucoderma treatment might help in restoring skin color. The results of the leucoderma treatment in ayurveda might vary from one person to another.

The leucoderma treatment in Ayurveda is possible by knowing the cause of leucoderma according to the ayurveda. Ayurveda is an ancient healing system in medical science, first seeks to restore, then maintain Svastha (health) of the body and mind. Svastha, meaning health in English, has a definition in Ayurveda that, when fully understood, sheds much light on the objective of this system of leucoderma medicine. Health is defined “as physical and mental well-being; freedom from disease, pain, or defect; normalcy of physical and mental functions; soundness.”

According to Ayurveda, Leucoderma is caused due to the aggravation of Pitta Dosha. Pitta dosha in an Ayurvedic study symbolizes heat or fire and is manifested in the skin. Aggravated Pitta leads to the accumulation of ama (toxins) in deep layers of the skin, leading to the condition of Leucoderma.

Pitta is of five types; one of them is Bhrajak Pitta that provides color to the skin. In the Leucoderma disease, Bhrajak Pitta is in an imbalanced state, and therefore, the skin starts losing its color and white patches started appearing. Along with Pitta Dosha, deeper body tissues like Rasa Dhatu (nutrient plasma), Rakta (blood), Mansa (muscles), Lasika (lymph) are also involved in the leucoderma disease.

Leucoderma treatment in ayurveda consists of propitiating the imbalanced body energies, cleansing the blood and administrating the leucoderma cure such as ayurvedic leucoderma medicine that restores the skin color of the body. Improper digestion is the root cause of this disease, as it causes the accumulation of toxins in the tissues. An essential part of leucoderma ayurvedic treatment, therefore, is restoring or rejuvenating the digestion of the body. The patient will also be advised on the correct balanced diet and lifestyle adjustments to prevent the recurrence of the disorder.

An abundance of herbs or ayurvedic cure is mentioned in the Ayurvedic texts. Many of them are readily available today. For example, Khadira (acacia catechu), is recommended for leucoderma treatment. The rasa of Khadira is bitter and astringent. It is considered balancing both Pitta and Kapha dosha as well as providing anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory effects. Another herb that is most often mentioned with leucodermic treatment in ayurveda is Vakuchi (Psoralea corylifolia Linn). The paste of this herb is used to apply over the affected areas.
